La testimonianza è un passo dell’"Historia Augusta", raccolta di biografie di imperatori romani databile intorno al IV-V secolo d.C., in cui si ricorda un terremoto avvenuto sotto l’imperatore Tacito (275-276). L’evento è riportato nell’ambito di una lista di prodigi (1). Questo terremoto non era noto alla tradizione dei cataloghi sismici.
